How can Thought Detox help me?
Thought Detox is a private space for you to work through negative thoughts and then release them, which can help you find clarity and peace. There's a great article in Psychology Today about the process that you can read here.
Is it really private?
Why is the app asking for access to Apple Health?
If you like, you can track the the time you spend working in the app as Mindful Minutes in the Apple Health app. However, you'll need grant access to Thought Detox; that's what tapping on the "Connect to Apple Health" button does, when you first launch the app.
How does the Mindful Minute tracking work?
Once you start typing, the app starts a timer until you tap the "Release This" button. It'll also pause that timer if you stop writing (for example, if you open the Settings sheet, or switch to another app). Once you release the thought, the timer stops, and the duration is saved as Mindful Minutes in the Apple Health app, if you've granted it access.
How do I add a widget to my Home Screen?
Please see this Apple support article or information on how to do that. If you don't see the option to add a Thought Detox widget, make sure you've launched the app at least once before trying again.
How do I set up Wind Down shortcuts?
You'll need to have set up a Sleep Schedule before you can add a Wind Down shortcut. Please see this Apple support article or information on how to do that. If you don't see the option to add a Thought Detox shortcut, make sure you've launched the app at least once before trying again.
The animations bother me, can I turn them off?
Yes! Tap the Settings button and scroll down to the Preferences section, then turn off Motion Effects.
I have trouble reading text because of the "embossed" effect, can I turn that off?
Yes! Tap the Settings button and scroll down to the Preferences section, then turn off Text Effects.
How can I get in touch with you if I have questions or comments?
In the app, tap the Settings button, then scroll to the Get In Touch section and tap the Email Support button. If you can't get the app to launch, please send an email and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
